About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Perform wind turbine aeroelastic simulations for New Product Development and Fleet Support
  • Execute mechanical loads analyses, controller tunings, and trade-offs for new products, cost-out, design updates, and fleet support
  • Prepare loads inputs, create aeroelastic models, execute loads analyses, and perform postprocessing
  • Perform basic operability checks and frequency-domain stability checks
  • Update loads envelopes
  • Hand off models and controllers to the MLA team for site-specific assessments
  • Perform feasibility studies and develop technology charts
  • Deliver loads mitigation and performance optimization technologies to lower Levelized Cost of Energy
  • Identify and deliver process simplification and tools automation ideas
  • Develop new methods and ideas for loads and performance improvements
  • Communicate with external customers and regulators and cross-functionally with sales, product line, and other GE businesses
  • Prepare certification documentation

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering or Mechanical Engineering
  • Practical exposure to the wind industry and aeroelastic loads simulations
  • Knowledge of best practices and how the SVO team and System Simulations integrates with other technical areas
  • Proven ability to work in a cross-functional and global environment
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Working knowledge of aero-elastic simulation platforms: Bladed, HAWC2, Simpack, SDM
  • Experience in wind turbine control technologies, operability, and validation
  • Expert knowledge of wind turbine component design criteria
  • For U.S.-based positions, legally authorized to work in the United States
  • Successful completion of a drug screen, as applicable
