About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Oversee the full accounting and financial reporting lifecycle for complex commercial arrangements
Partner with the Global Hydro Operations Finance Leader to design and evaluate the future-state Project Accounting organization
Champion a LEAN culture to streamline processes, prioritize automation, and align with broader finance strategies
Establish and maintain accounting standards, internal controls, and policies
Ensure compliance with GAAP, statutory regulations, and global accounting policies
Serve as the primary point of contact for internal and external audits
Oversee end-to-end project accounting, including project setup, revenue recognition, pacing, and reconciliations
Ensure high-quality financial documentation and manage cash tax implications and regulatory requirements
Facilitate the Hydro margin review process and collaborate with fulfillment leaders to optimize contract performance
Partner with business unit finance and FP&A teams to deliver accurate financial forecasts and baseline cases
Provide quarterly balance sheet updates to senior management
Identify, recruit, and mentor top-tier talent
Manage accountability for third-party vendor performance
Translate complex concepts into actionable strategies and remain effective in ambiguous, fast-paced environments

Requirements

What you’ll need

Minimum 8 years of progressive finance/operations experience, including at least 3 years in a finance leadership role
Proven experience in Hydro accounting (e.g., Controller, Risk Finance Leader, or PFM/OTR Finance Manager)
Demonstrated experience managing and developing high-performing teams
Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university or college
Strong background in CSA, Projects, and Upgrades accounting
CPA or CA designation preferred
Experience leading global teams (direct or indirect)
Strong analytical, project management, and organizational skills
Expertise in cross-functional collaboration with horizontal teams (ITR, Fulfillment, Operations)
Exceptional strategic thinking with the ability to execute concrete action plans under pressure
Superior oral and written communication skills
