About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Provide technical oversight of Steam Turbine Controls development for customer projects
  • Guide teams in the design, development, execution, and validation of Steam Turbine Controls software
  • Develop and maintain documentation and work instructions for Steam Turbine Controls software requisition processes
  • Conduct milestone design reviews to ensure controls features and quality meet acceptance criteria
  • Provide technical guidance and mentoring to Steam Turbine Controls software engineers
  • Support field personnel with resolution of commissioning ER cases
  • Maintain relationships within the Steam Power Engineering community to communicate requirements and drive project solutions
  • Define and deliver productivity and process improvements that increase Controls team capacity
  • Gather requirements from internal engineering teams, internal customers, and external customers
  • Deliver quality products on time to meet Power Plant startups and commissioning
  • Lead control system architecture definition for steam turbine applications, including auxiliary systems, TSI, generator control and protection interfaces, and steam admission/valve control sequences
  • Collaborate with Mechanical, Thermal, Gas Turbine, and BOP engineering teams on integrated system-level solutions
  • Support HRSG and Heat Recovery interface coordination for combined cycle operations
  • Oversee project execution from ITO through OTR and commissioning
  • Apply lean principles to solve problems, drive productivity, and improve quality

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering — Electrical, Chemical, Mechanical, or related engineering discipline
  • Minimum 8 years of experience with controls development in the Mark VIe platform
  • Demonstrated experience with Steam Turbine Controls, including startup/shutdown sequencing, speed/load control, valve management, and turbine protection systems
  • Technical skills and expertise in Steam Turbine / Combined Cycle Controls, including steam admission, bypass control, and turbine supervisory instrumentation (TSI)
  • Leadership skills guiding teams through software development lifecycles
  • Experience working in a global matrixed environment
  • Strong influence and collaboration skills
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to deliver concise messaging and lead customer-facing meetings
  • System Integration mindset to understand customer requirements and deliver innovative, reliable solutions across the steam cycle
  • Ability to drive improvement initiatives and incorporate lessons learned for future projects
  • Familiarity with HRSG controls interfaces and combined cycle plant integration is strongly preferred
  • Understanding of steam turbine thermodynamic principles and their influence on control system design decisions
  • Experience supporting commissioning activities at power plant sites, including resolving field-level technical issues under schedule pressure
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States
  • Successful completion of a drug screen, as applicable
