Customer Application Engineer

About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Execute inquiry-to-order engineering activities for the global ONW business
- Serve as technical interface with Commercial Operations, customers, Sales, Project Engineering, and Project Management throughout the ITO life cycle for wind turbine proposals
- Work with Commercial and Projects teams to align engineering support with order growth and customer value objectives
- Execute project risk assessments before contract signature
- Manage technical aspects of aftermarket proposals, including SCADA, turbine control, and farm-level control upgrades
- Drive process standardization for product offerings, product portfolio strategy, design-to-order products, and customer options
- Lead risk assessment and technical due diligence process improvements
- Provide energy assessments and optimize product offerings based on suitability, environmental conditions, economics, and technical risk
- Respond to customer technical inquiries and communications and review customer specifications and site data
- Interface with Platform Teams to facilitate implementation of new wind turbine offerings and aftermarket features
- Ensure product requirements and deliverables are identified and met where practicable
- Communicate contract and project requirements to design functions using internal documentation systems
- Contribute to and approve customer-facing technical documents
- Foster metrics to maximize customer satisfaction and minimize resource consumption
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, physics, chemistry, mathematics, computer science or related field
- Minimum of 8 years engineering and technology experience
- Strong technical skills and project leadership
- Fluent in English
- Ability and availability to travel 10% of the year
- Experience in renewable energy/wind technologies
- Established project management and leadership skills
- System or product-level mindset
- Commercial experience or exposure
- Experience with controls and SCADA is a plus
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Ability to interpret customer requirements and identify needs
- Strong oral and written communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences
- Ability to interface effectively with all levels of the organization and external customers
- Experience providing technical support to sales, commercial and marketing functions
- Experience with customer negotiations for technical and commercial topics during ITO
- Global experience and ability to work with international teams
- Effective problem solving abilities
- Self-motivated team player with demonstrated creativity and fulfillment
- Legally authorized to work in the United States
- Successful completion of a drug screen, as applicable
