About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Provide technical coordination for conversions, modifications, including unit relocations and uprates on in-service Gas Turbine Power Trains and their BOP Mechanical/Electrical systems
  • Provide wing-to-wing support for proposals and projects from inquiry to remittance (ITR)
  • Develop and monitor engineering project schedules to meet milestones defined by Project Management, GE Field Service, and the Customer
  • Communicate project scope to Engineering, Manufacturing, Sourcing, Field Service, Service Shop personnel, and the Customer
  • Provide technical support to Engineering, Manufacturing, Sourcing, Field Service, and Service Shop personnel during project execution and installation
  • Deliver technical presentations to customers and other GE components
  • Maintain awareness of group efforts to assure technical quality, timely completion of work and reviews, appropriate use of resources, and responsiveness to customer and program needs
  • Promote professional growth of junior global Requisition Engineering team members through coaching and mentoring
  • Ensure timely completion of all project objectives
  • Demonstrate accountability for functional and business objectives
  • Manage engineering projects from order conversion through installation
  • Own scheduling, engineering definition, parts ordering, BOM/DWG approval, Field Modification Instruction (FMI), and resolution of technical issues during installation

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering (mechanical, electrical, controls, or related) or equivalent practical experience
  • 8+ years of engineering or field experience in power generation, with direct exposure to gas turbines and combined-cycle plant operations (peaking and CCGT configurations)
  • Demonstrated project engineering experience: schedule management, scope control, cost and risk management, and cross-functional coordination
  • Ability to interpret and produce engineering documentation (P&IDs, one-line diagrams, mechanical drawings, specifications, BOMs)
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as needed to support project and site activities
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally, as needed
  • For US Applicants: Minimum 8 years of engineering or field experience on gas turbines
  • For Non-US Applicants: Significant engineering or field experience on gas turbines
  • Knowledge of BOP Electrical equipment, including Excitation, Load Commutator Inverter, One-line diagrams, Generator Protection, Synchronization, and Motor Control Centers
  • Knowledge of plant communication networks, GE controllers, and DCS
  • Understanding of Gas Turbines Power train operation in Peaking and Combined Cycle configurations
  • Knowledge of GE Gas Turbine product lines and systems
  • Familiarity with GT MLI/BOM structure
  • Proficiency in the Gas Turbine Requisition process
  • Demonstrated strong communication and facilitation skills
  • Ability to work in a dynamic environment with a wide variety of organizations and individuals in global locations
  • Ability and eagerness to challenge the status quo
  • Effective interpersonal and influencing skills
  • Field experience on GE Heavy Duty Gas Turbines
