About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Evaluate and develop technologies for modern control room environments
- Support the design and development of controls and HMI platforms for reliable power plant operations
- Support the design and prototyping of control system interfaces using simulation tools
- Assist in implementing security controls and best practices for operational technology systems
- Gather and analyze stakeholder feedback to inform controls and platform design and security improvements
- Contribute to documentation, templates, and standards supporting customer operations
- Explore opportunities to integrate advanced technologies into control systems
- Evaluate computing technologies for control system feature enhancements built on generative AI
- Contribute to next-generation control systems for power generation facilities, including platform development, user interface design, and cyber security implementation
Requirements
What you’ll need- Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or another STEM major with a minimum of 1 year of relevant post-graduation experience; or Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 2 years of relevant post-graduation experience
- Experience or interest in human-machine interface design, computer programming, computer platforms and network devices, or cyber security
- Interest in control systems, user interface design, operating systems and hypervisors, network architecture and devices, or cyber security compliance and security control implementations
- Awareness of large language and small language artificial intelligence models and prompt engineering
- Familiarity with zero-trust cyber security principles
- Basic knowledge of industrial protocols such as Modbus and OPC UA or SCADA systems
- Familiarity with network devices and configurations such as switches and firewalls
- Familiarity with design tools or security control principles
- Awareness of emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence
- Required work location: Longmont, Colorado; Greenville, South Carolina; Roanoke, Virginia; or Schenectady, New York
- Unrestricted work authorization in the United States; sponsorship is not provided now or in the future
- Successful completion of a drug screen, as applicable
