About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Lead and mentor part of the team developing and maintaining embedded software controls and instrumentation systems for nuclear power plants
- Lead work planning, scheduling, and resource loading across engineering, procurement, construction, and new product introduction lifecycle phases
- Support project engineering and management with execution metrics, status, issues, risks, mitigation plans, recovery plans, and scope changes
- Drive compliance with scope, work plans, budgets, schedules, design processes, reviews, and discipline-specific practices and tools
- Lead day-to-day operations and follow up to ensure deliverables meet specifications, budgets, schedules, and commitments
- Coordinate across engineering disciplines to support integrated plant design objectives
- Collaborate with project management, project engineering, support functions, and other stakeholders to drive project completion
- Identify, document, and lead resolution of technical, risk, and emergent issues
- Provide technical oversight and mentorship throughout design release, manufacturing or supplier activities, production, validation, installation, and commissioning tests
- Support strategy, plans, statements of work, and resource loading implementation
- Host learning sessions and support knowledge capture and transfer initiatives
- Use requirements, design, change, configuration, and document management tools
- Champion nuclear safety culture and ensure compliance with policies, quality management systems, and corrective action programs
- Deliver work with integrity, safety, security, quality, and on-time output
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent 4-year technical degree from an accredited college or university
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in embedded software development
- Deep working knowledge of C programming language and software development tools, including GitLab version control, IDEs, and debuggers
- Minimum of 10 years of experience with C coding conventions, unit testing, and integration testing of software
- Minimum of 5 years of experience performing independent or team-based system design or technical reviews
- Experience interfacing with requirements management, independent verification, and validation
- Ability to come onsite as needed for testing operations, about once a month
- U.S. work authorization required
- Ability to obtain authorization for access to U.S. export-controlled information, if applicable
- Experience in nuclear analog and digital instrumentation, control, monitoring, electric power systems, and field engineering
- Competency in IEEE and IEC industry standards and quality standards
- Experience with commercial nuclear industry plant instrumentation application software, control and monitoring software system design, implementation, testing, installation, and commissioning
- Experience with application, field installation, and testing of systems and equipment
- Competency in modeling and test data collection tools
- C coding standards knowledge; MISRA-C familiarity is desirable
- Experience in product, instrument, and system design, verification, validation, and qualification
- Experience with design verification and validation
- Technical writing skills focused on requirements and design documents
- Effective use of data structures and algorithms
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
