Key responsibilities & impact
  • Lead and mentor part of the team developing and maintaining embedded software controls and instrumentation systems for nuclear power plants
  • Lead work planning, scheduling, and resource loading across engineering, procurement, construction, and new product introduction lifecycle phases
  • Support project engineering and management with execution metrics, status, issues, risks, mitigation plans, recovery plans, and scope changes
  • Drive compliance with scope, work plans, budgets, schedules, design processes, and discipline-specific practices
  • Lead day-to-day operations and follow up to ensure deliverables meet specifications, budget, schedule, and commitments
  • Coordinate across engineering disciplines to support integrated plant design objectives
  • Collaborate with project management, project engineering, support functions, and other stakeholders to drive project completion
  • Identify, document, and lead resolution of technical, risk, and emergent issues
  • Provide technical oversight and mentorship to ensure system designs and deliverables comply with requirements through manufacturing or supplier activities, production, validation, installation, and commissioning tests
  • Support strategy, planning, statements of work, and resource loading implementation
  • Host learning sessions and support knowledge capture and transfer initiatives
  • Use tools for requirements, design, change, configuration, and document management
  • Champion nuclear safety culture and ensure compliance with company policies, quality management systems, and corrective action programs
  • Deliver work with integrity, safety, security, quality, and on-time output

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent 4-year technical degree from an accredited college or university
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in embedded software development
  • Deep working knowledge of C programming language and software development tools, including GitLab version control, IDEs, and debuggers
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience with C coding conventions, unit testing, and integration testing of software
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience performing independent or team-based system design or technical reviews
  • Experience interfacing with requirements management and independent verification and validation
  • Ability to work in the United States legally
  • Ability to obtain authorization to access U.S. export-controlled information, if applicable
  • Ability to come onsite as needed for testing operations, approximately once a month
  • Desired: experience in nuclear analog and digital instrumentation, control, monitoring, electric power systems, and field engineering
  • Desired: competency in IEEE, IEC, and quality standards
  • Desired: 10 years of commercial nuclear industry experience
  • Desired: experience with application, field installation, and testing of systems and equipment
  • Competency in modeling and test data collection tools
  • Familiarity with MISRA-C desirable
  • Experience in product, instrument, and system design, verification, validation, and qualification
  • Experience in design verification and validation
  • Effective use of data structures and algorithms
  • Solid technical writing skills focused on requirements and design documents
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Technical facilitation and presentation skills
  • Ability to learn diverse organizational interfaces and new tools
  • Continuous improvement and process improvement capability
