About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Lead technical scope execution, design, and implementation of controls system projects for HMI and networking
  • Drive customer order fulfillment from commercial inquiry through customer acceptance and commercial operation
  • Identify and mitigate technical risks across HMI and networking scope
  • Provide technical mentoring and direction to assigned functional controls engineers
  • Own technical execution for high-risk and complex projects
  • Support project and functional engineers with schedules, milestones, customer deliverables, regulations, and standards compliance
  • Provide technical inputs for customer proposals
  • Support and influence new product and product-sustaining requirements
  • Drive architecture, top-level design, verification, validation, and commissioning requirements
  • Ensure system function, performance, interfaces, reliability, maintainability, and safety through design reviews
  • Develop comprehensive system verification, validation, customer testing, site installation, startup, and commissioning plans
  • Coordinate customer requirements and tasks with functional engineers
  • Support Project Engineers in customer discussions and reviews
  • Drive consistent solutions across controls scope
  • Collaborate with internal and external customers
  • Enforce controls HMI and networking design standards and practices

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering from an accredited college or university
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in power generation and/or process control design, HMI and industrial networking
  • Strong background in HMI application software including Proficy iFix, Cimplicity, and Historian based products
  • Recent experience working on complex Cisco network/HMI upgrades for steam turbine/gas turbine/balance of plant controllers with Modbus/GSM/OPC communication with installed DCS
  • Demonstrated ability to meet goals and objectives
  • Ability and willingness to travel up to 15% of time, as required
  • Proven strong interpersonal and leadership skills
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States
  • Successful completion of a drug screen, as applicable
  • Desired: Master’s degree in engineering
  • Desired: Prior experience in Enhanced CDM, DLN Upgrades, Control Curve upgrades and modification kits for Gas/Dual-Fuel frame 6FA, 7FA, 7E, 9E, 9FA Gas Turbines on Mark V/VI/Vie controller platforms
  • Desired: Expertise in legacy HMI systems and Mark V/Mark VI Controllers
  • Desired: Software modification experience for Mark V/Mark VI/Mark VIe Controllers for turbine applications
  • Desired: GE power generation controls, electrical, cyber, mechanical, or accessory systems experience
  • Desired: Cyber security systems implementation experience
  • Desired: Field installation experience for UCVx Upgrades, system integration/testing, and network upgrades
  • Desired: Cisco Shell, MS Office/Visio, VBA, RedHat Linux, Windows NT/XP/7, VMWare, GE ControlST, GE eTCSS, Cimplicity, Proficy Machine Edition, National Instruments LabVIEW, MATLAB, MPLAB C, and Mark V/VI/Vie controller software design experience
  • Desired: Knowledge of Modbus, OPC, TCP/IP
