About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Design and own integrated solutions architecture
- Develop and maintain Single Line Diagrams integrating electrical subsystems, gas power turbines, Energy Management Systems, battery energy storage, and grid hardware and software
- Evaluate and propose application-specific design architectures
- Perform studies and simulations to validate system response and performance
- Define equipment LCOE and operational interfaces with business units
- Translate customer reliability requirements to internal parties
- Support LCOE and reliability analyses
- Lead onsite generation report definition, information gathering, customer meetings, and final report submission
- Lead business-unit coordination for ongoing customer projects and proposals
- Support and lead cross-functional coordination studies and requirements testing for entire power systems
- Collaborate with Consulting Services and engineering, sales, and product-development teams across GE Vernova
- Interpret heavy-duty or aeroderivative turbine studies to inform system design and optimization
- Develop reference architectures for repeatable applications and apply them to customer projects
- Interface with utilities and Independent System Operators to ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations
- Identify opportunities for collaboration and innovation
- Drive growth of GE Vernova’s power systems capabilities
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college in mechanical, electrical or power systems engineering
- At least 5 years of professional experience in engineering, product management or related functions
- 3+ years of experience completing projects on-time and on-budget as an individual contributor or project manager
- 3+ years of gas turbine, combined-cycle, or turbomachinery application engineering experience
- Strong understanding of equipment performance and operating capabilities, including ramp rates, black-start options, emissions, and available upgrades or design options to improve heat rate, output, and overall plant capability
- Ability and willingness to travel a minimum of 25% of the time
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Strong written and oral communication skills for presentations to internal and external business executives
- Understanding of government structures and players, global energy policy, worldwide power system codes and standards, power market structures, and regulatory reform impacts
- General understanding of power systems and controls phenomena, including steady-state flow, voltage stability, least-cost generation planning and operation, and controls coordination
- General understanding of technical regulatory standards and grid code compliance evaluation, testing and reporting
- General understanding of power systems equipment, including generation, load smoothing and storage, transmission, distribution, industrial equipment, BESS, solid-state transformers, generators, transformers, circuit breakers, arresters, capacitors, synchronous condensers, HVDC, and power electronic converters
- General understanding of controls concepts for grid-interactive power systems equipment
- Understanding of load-flow, dynamic stability and/or production simulation modeling concepts, applications and validation
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States
- Successful completion of a drug screen, as applicable
