About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Design and own integrated solutions architecture
- Develop and maintain Single Line Diagrams integrating electrical subsystems, gas power turbines, Energy Management Systems, battery energy storage, and grid hardware and software
- Evaluate and propose application-specific design architectures
- Perform studies and simulations to validate system response and performance
- Define equipment LCOE and operational interfaces with business units
- Translate customer reliability requirements to internal parties and support LCOE and reliability analysis
- Lead onsite generation report definition, gather information for customer meetings, and submit final reports
- Lead business unit coordination for ongoing customer projects and proposals
- Support and lead cross-functional coordination studies and requirements testing for entire power systems
- Collaborate with Consulting Services and GE Vernova engineering, sales, and product development teams
- Support and interpret gas turbine studies to inform system design and optimization
- Develop reference architectures for repeatable applications and apply them to customer projects
- Interface with utilities and Independent System Operators to ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations
- Identify opportunities for collaboration and innovation
- Support growth of GE Vernova’s power systems capabilities
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college in mechanical, electrical, or power systems engineering
- At least 5 years of professional experience in engineering, product management, or related functions
- 3+ years of experience completing projects on-time and on-budget as an individual contributor or project manager
- 3+ years of gas turbine, combined-cycle, or turbomachinery application engineering experience
- Strong understanding of equipment performance and operating capabilities, including ramp rates, black-start options, emissions, and available upgrades or design options to improve heat rate, output, and overall plant capability
- Ability and willingness to travel a minimum of 25% of the time
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to lead engineering teams to high-value technical solutions
- Strong written and oral communication skills for presentations to internal and external business executives
- Understanding of government structures and players, global energy policy, worldwide power system codes and standards, power market structures, and macroeconomic impact of regulatory reform
- General understanding of power systems and controls phenomena, including steady-state flow, voltage stability, least-cost generation planning and operation, and controls coordination
- General understanding of technical regulatory standards and grid code compliance evaluation, testing, and reporting
- General understanding of power systems equipment, including generation, load smoothing and storage, transmission, distribution, and industrial equipment
- General understanding of controls concepts for grid-interactive power systems equipment
- Understanding of loadflow, dynamic stability, and/or production simulation modeling concepts, applications, and validation
- Legally authorized to work in the United States
- Successful completion of a drug screen, as applicable
