About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Report to the Control & Protection Engineering Manager
- Deliver the overall technical solution meeting customer requirements
- Capture and analyze customer requirements
- Define control system architecture for HVDC projects
- Build and update project signal lists
- Define control test strategies
- Define detailed test plans and procedures and execute, lead, or supervise test execution
- Develop SCADA/HMI systems
- Lead and support Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT)
- Collaborate with project managers, technical experts, site teams, and other stakeholders
- Interface with equipment suppliers, monitor cabinet manufacturing, and supervise FATs
- Investigate technical problems and establish procedures and corrective actions
- Assist with control-system installation and commissioning site activities
- Prepare responses to customer comments on technical submittals
- Attend technical meetings with customers, contractors, and consultants
- Follow standard design practices, engineering reviews, and guidelines
- Apply engineering policies and procedures
- Support department continuous-improvement activities
Requirements
What you’ll need- Degree in Electronics, Electrical, Automation Engineering, or related field
- Minimum of 12 years of experience in control system development in applications similar to HVDC, including Oil & Gas, electrical substations, transmission, and distribution
- Good understanding of electrical systems engineering
- Strong knowledge of communication protocols and networks
- Working experience with IEDs (Intelligent Electronic Devices)
- Good knowledge of communication design, including fiber optics and Ethernet networks
- Knowledge of norms, standards, and control design technologies in electrical transmission and distribution systems, such as IEC 61850
- Knowledge of HMI and SCADA systems
- Ability to understand electrical drawings
- Proficiency with MS Office, Word, Visio, and Excel
- Technical documentation and communication skills
- English language
- Availability to travel approximately 10% of the time
- Knowledge in cybersecurity (desired)
- Knowledge of HVDC stations and main components (desired)
