About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Lead a multidisciplinary team of engineers specializing in control and protection systems, automation systems, HV & LV power systems, and verification & validation
  • Provide technical leadership, advice, and assistance to the overall project team, including Tendering, Commissioning, Service, and third parties
  • Support and deputize for the Project (Engineering) Manager
  • Plan and progress design engineering activities, including testing and commissioning
  • Monitor, control, and manage engineering budgets, project documentation, risk management, design reviews, and quality/change control
  • Support improvement initiatives and cost-out plans with other business units
  • Act as primary technical and project interface with customers, suppliers, NPI, and Product Care
  • Ensure activities are executed efficiently and cost-effectively according to contract specifications, quality standards, and safety requirements
  • Manage and lead the team to execute projects according to schedule, cost, and contract
  • Lead and motivate technical personnel
  • Solve problems and take responsibility for control, protection, and automation of HVDC solutions
  • Collaborate with different functions on day-to-day problem solving and competency development

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Experience in an engineering & project leadership environment
  • Experience in application engineering in one or more fields, from controls engineering, protection, automation, HVDC, and grid connected systems
  • Experience in project execution of HVDC or similar
  • Experience of design and system integration working on complex multi-disciplinary projects
  • Controls & Protection of HV & LV system
  • Experience of owning the job, making it their own, and adding value beyond
  • Capable of leading large multi-disciplinary teams
  • Ability to multi-task on a variety of tasks to strict time scales
  • Strong analytical, interpersonal, communication, presentation and facilitation skills
  • Customer-centric mind set, experience in translating customer issues / needs into profitable business solutions
  • Minimum degree in Electrical / Electronic Engineering or Project Management and equivalent degree with suitable industry experience
  • More than 9 years’ experience in Control & Protection system
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Strong sense of urgency and ability to identify and manage team organisational risks
  • Proven skills in managing and leading team with strong technical background
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Able to work to deadlines under pressure whilst maintaining the safety, quality, and engineering integrity of the solution
  • Must be flexible with working hours and willing to travel globally
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
  • Ability to analyse and resolve problems
  • Demonstrated ability to lead programs / projects
  • Ability to document, plan, and execute programs
