About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Install and commission Control Solutions hardware and software across machine types in Oil & Gas, power generation, and other process industries
  • Troubleshoot existing Control Solutions hardware and software installations on site
  • Prepare field service jobs and interventions with project managers
  • Provide technical assistance and training to customers on site
  • Supervise mechanical and electrical subcontractors and instrumentation de-installation/reinstallation
  • Perform engineering support and factory acceptance tests (FAT)
  • Lead and execute loop checks, commissioning phases, functional tests, and site acceptance tests (SAT)
  • Lead and execute unit startup and performance tests, evaluate running parameters, and troubleshoot control-system problems
  • Maintain accurate timesheets and obtain customer signatures before leaving job sites
  • Write accurate, detailed reports after each job
  • Maintain operational knowledge of GE Vernova Control Solutions and Services hardware and software
  • Assess and monitor site safety during job execution
  • Communicate professionally with customers and team members
  • Understand terms and conditions commitments
  • Enter hours, expenses, and timesheets accurately and promptly in internal systems
  • Provide external reporting and progress updates to clients, plant or utility owners, and construction firms
  • Review plant engineering documents and P&IDs
  • Plan, organize, integrate, and direct labor, tools, and materials to complete contractual work scopes

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering
  • Experience on power plant electrical equipment and controls installation, commissioning, and unit startup
  • Proven working experience in Oil & Gas and Power Plant industry field activities
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills to convey technical concepts to business and technical personnel
  • Electrical and mechanical troubleshooting skills and hands-on approach
  • Strong knowledge of rotating equipment control philosophy in power generation, including HDGT, aeroderivative turbines, steam turbines, and BOP
  • Strong knowledge of UCP, MCC, DCP, and DCS
  • Strong knowledge of field devices, instruments, actuators, and industrial protocols including IEC61850, Modbus, OPC, and Profibus
  • Ability to understand and implement technical drawings, including wiring diagrams, P&IDs, and general arrangements
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • Willingness to travel within the region 70% ATR and work overtime
  • Fluency in English, Spanish, and Portuguese
  • Valid driver's license and passport, or ability to obtain a passport
  • Strong computer skills using MS Office software
  • Experience working on GE Vernova Controls systems such as Mark V, Mark VI, and Mark Vie/s
  • Experience with software tools such as Cimplicity and ControlST Toolbox
  • Customer-focused mindset with ability to respond quickly to customer needs
  • Good interpersonal and organizational skills
