About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Support sales and business development by providing technical expertise in electrification solutions for EHV/HV substations
- Perform system design, material selection, quantity estimation, and project engineering activities
- Provide customer technical consultations
- Ensure proposed solutions meet customer needs, industry standards, safety regulations, quality requirements, and cost-efficiency objectives
- Execute assigned objectives in association with workgroups
- Coordinate with GSI Global Engineering Centre, GSI Regions, and Business Lines as required by projects
- Design HV primary systems for 132 kV and above GIS/AIS substations for grid-interconnected projects
- Prepare single-line diagrams, layout plans and sections, equipment control room layouts, earthing layouts, DSLP layouts, and trench layouts
- Perform earthing, lightning, cable sizing, battery sizing, illumination system, sag-tension, short-circuit force, and busbar sizing calculations according to IEEE/IEC
- Select and size project equipment according to IEEE/IEC
- Prepare distribution and auxiliary systems
- Evaluate vendor drawings, GTPs, calculations, and technical specifications
- Perform LV/MV engineering for collector, unit, and pooling substations
- Prepare ITO/tender drawings, BOQ estimates, RFQ finalization and evaluation, and component/equipment selections
- Coordinate and integrate with Automation, Civil, and MEP teams
- Coordinate site and office teams for project execution
- Lead projects independently, handle clients, and develop teams
- Manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and provide leadership during design and implementation phases
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s Degree/ Diploma in electrical engineering or related field, from an accredited college or university
- Minimum of 12+ years of experience with Degree or 15+ years with Diploma in EHV/ HV AIS & GIS Substation design
- Good understanding of power system components (transformers, switchgear, protection systems) and renewable energy integration
- Excellent communication skills, capable of explaining complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to balance technical requirements and business needs
- Ability to work collaboratively across teams and with clients
- Ability to guide/groom team and execute project in line with client/project requirement
- Ability to expand the competency domain, being able to take new learning challenges
- Flexible for travel globally
- Know-how of IEEE / IEC codes, safety in design/EHS aspects, AC substation industry engineering practices
- Competency on specialized tools like CANECO, ETAP, CDGES or equivalent
- Working experience with 3D Design Tools
