About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Support sales and business development by providing technical expertise for electrification solutions for EHV/HV substations
  • Design HV primary systems for 132 kV and above GIS/AIS substations for grid-interconnected projects
  • Prepare single-line diagrams, layout plans and sections, earthing layouts, DSLP layouts, trench layouts, and related plant and control-room drawings
  • Perform earthing, lightning, cable sizing, battery sizing, illumination, sag-tension, short-circuit-force, and busbar-sizing engineering calculations
  • Select and size project equipment in accordance with IEEE/IEC standards
  • Prepare distribution and auxiliary systems
  • Evaluate vendor drawings, GTPs, calculations, and technical specifications
  • Perform LV/MV engineering for collector, unit, and pooling substations
  • Prepare ITO/tender drawings, estimate BOQs, finalize and evaluate RFQs, and select equipment based on pricing options
  • Coordinate and integrate with automation, civil, and MEP teams
  • Coordinate site and office teams for project execution
  • Coordinate with GSI Global Engineering Centre and GSI regions/business lines according to project requirements
  • Consult with customers and ensure solutions meet customer needs, safety, quality, industry-standard, and cost-efficiency requirements
  • Guide and develop team members and execute projects in line with client and project requirements
  • Expand competency domains and adopt developments in renewable technologies

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in electrical engineering or related field, from an accredited college or university
  • Minimum of 12+ years of experience with Degree or 15+ years with Diploma in EHV/HV AIS & GIS Substation design
  • Good understanding of power system components, including transformers, switchgear, and protection systems
  • Knowledge of IEEE/IEC codes, safety in design/EHS aspects, and AC substation industry engineering practices
  • Experience with HV primary designs for 132 kV and above GIS/AIS substation engineering
  • Ability to perform earthing, lightning, cable sizing, battery sizing, illumination, sag tension, short circuit force, and busbar sizing calculations
  • Ability to select and size project equipment according to IEEE/IEC standards
  • Experience preparing distribution/auxiliary systems and evaluating vendor drawings, GTPs, calculations, and technical specifications
  • Experience with LV/MV engineering for collector, unit, and pooling substations
  • Experience with ITO/tender drawings, BOQ estimation, RFQ finalization and evaluation, and equipment selection
  • Familiarity with automation, civil, and MEP coordination and project execution
  • Ability to lead projects independently and handle clients
  • Ability to guide and develop teams
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively across teams and with clients
  • Flexible to travel globally
  • Optional: FACTS project engineering, HVDC/FACTS integrated applications, CANECO, ETAP, CDGES or equivalent, and 3D design tools
