About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Support sales and business development by providing technical expertise in electrification solutions for EHV/HV substations
  • Design HV primary systems for 132 kV and above GIS/AIS substation engineering for grid-interconnected projects
  • Prepare single-line diagrams, layout plans and sections, earthing layouts, DSLP layouts, trench layouts, and related plant and control-room drawings
  • Perform earthing, lightning, cable sizing, battery sizing, illumination, sag-tension, short-circuit-force, and busbar sizing calculations according to IEEE/IEC standards
  • Select and size project equipment according to IEEE/IEC standards
  • Prepare distribution and auxiliary systems
  • Evaluate vendor drawings, GTPs, calculations, and technical specifications
  • Perform LV/MV engineering for collector, unit, and pooling substations
  • Prepare ITO/tender drawings, BOQ estimates, RFQs, and component evaluations
  • Coordinate and integrate with Automation, Civil, and MEP teams
  • Coordinate site and office teams for project execution
  • Coordinate with GSI Global Engineering Centre, regions, and business lines as required
  • Consult with customers and ensure solutions meet customer needs, safety, quality, standards, and cost-efficiency objectives
  • Lead and develop teams and independently execute projects

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in electrical engineering or related field, from an accredited college or university
  • Minimum of 12+ years of experience with Degree or 15+ years with Diploma in EHV/HV AIS & GIS Substation design
  • Good understanding of power system components (transformers, switchgear, protection systems) and renewable energy integration
  • Excellent communication skills, capable of explaining complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to balance technical requirements and business needs
  • Ability to work collaboratively across teams and with clients
  • Ability to guide/groom team and execute projects in line with client/project requirements
  • Ability to expand the competency domain and take on new learning challenges
  • Flexible for global travel
  • Knowledge of IEEE/IEC codes, safety in design/EHS aspects, and AC substation industry engineering practices
  • Experience with HV primary design for 132 kV and above GIS/AIS substations
  • Competency with specialized tools such as CANECO, ETAP, CDGES, or equivalent is optional
  • Working experience with 3D design tools is optional
