About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Support sales and business development by providing technical expertise in electrification solutions for EHV/HV substations
- Design HV primary systems for 132 kV and above GIS/AIS substations for grid-interconnected projects
- Prepare single-line diagrams, layout plans and sections, earthing layouts, DSLP layouts, trench layouts, and related plant/control-room documentation
- Perform earthing, lightning, cable sizing, battery sizing, illumination, sag-tension, short-circuit-force, and busbar sizing calculations per IEEE/IEC
- Select and size project equipment and prepare distribution/auxiliary systems
- Evaluate vendor drawings, GTPs, calculations, and technical specifications
- Perform LV/MV engineering for collector, unit, and pooling substations
- Prepare ITO/tender drawings, BOQ estimates, RFQs, and component evaluations
- Coordinate and integrate with Automation, Civil, and MEP teams
- Coordinate site and office teams for project execution
- Coordinate with GSI Global Engineering Centre and GSI regions/business lines as required
- Handle customer technical consultations and independently lead projects
- Guide and develop team members
- Apply safety, quality, industry-standard, and cost-efficiency requirements to proposed solutions
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in electrical engineering or related field, from an accredited college or university
- Minimum of 12+ years of experience with Degree or 15+ years with Diploma in EHV/HV AIS & GIS Substation design
- Good understanding of power system components, including transformers, switchgear, and protection systems
- Knowledge of renewable energy integration
- Excellent communication skills, capable of explaining complex technical concepts to technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to balance technical requirements and business needs
- Ability to work collaboratively across teams and with clients
- Ability to guide/groom teams and execute projects in line with client/project requirements
- Ability to expand the competency domain and take on new learning challenges
- Know-how of IEEE/IEC codes, safety in design/EHS aspects, and AC substation industry engineering practices
- Flexible for global travel
