About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Provide technical support for new unit installation, startup, and outage work scopes
  • Provide engineering response support for critical issues in a timely and efficient manner
  • Support and resolve in-depth technical issues in plant electrical systems, including generator, transformer, and breaker protection; LV/MV switchgear; DC systems; power and instrument transformers; GCB; electrical enclosures; iso-phase ducts; earthing systems; and balance-of-plant electrical equipment
  • Lead root cause investigations for issues with significant fleet impact through corrective and preventive action
  • Assure component designs meet customer requirements
  • Coordinate with manufacturing, sourcing, services operations, quality, and design engineering organizations
  • Communicate progress across organizational levels according to issue criticality
  • Travel to customer locations to support technical discussions and present recommendations
  • Support unplanned or forced outages to return units to service
  • Extend technical support to sales and services teams
  • Author knowledge articles and customer communications, including TILs, PSSBs, PSIBs, and safety communications
  • Participate in global product service meetings to develop personal and team expertise

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited university or college
  • Minimum 3 years of experience on Electrical systems and combined cycle power plants
  • Impactful interpersonal and networking skills, with proven ability to influence
  • Willingness to work in a collaborative agile environment in a global matrix organization
  • Comfortable dealing with ambiguity and uncertainty, with willingness to be challenged and show flexibility
  • Experience and willingness to travel to customer sites to support commissioning or issue resolutions
  • Position requires 10–20% travel domestically and internationally for business purposes
  • Willingness to work off hours and weekends to support emergency issue resolution
  • Previous experience in a customer-facing role
  • Strong technical aptitude, including applicable engineering tools and systems
  • Strong oral and written communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills
  • Ability to assess and prioritize problems in relation to organizational goals
  • Ability to anticipate customer needs and ensure they are met
  • Ability to measure processes and performance through the customer's eyes
