About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Perform plant thermal hydraulic evaluations and analyses for ECCS LOCA, Containment, HELB, Fire Safe Shutdown, Annulus Pressurization Loads, and RIPD analyses
- Support reload and design applications for operating and new BWR plants, including ABWR and BWRX plants
- Take responsibility for fuel project activities, including reload analyses, methods implementation, power uprates, new fuel introductions, and safety analysis support for emergent fuel issues
- Work in cross-disciplinary settings with mechanical design, core design, licensing, systems design, and affiliated organizations
- Prepare, document, and present technical data to internal and external customers
- Provide technical mentoring, procedure development, adherence, knowledge management, and knowledge capture and transfer
- Develop and deliver training courses for external commercial requests and internal audiences
- Lead team process improvements to drive speed and simplification
- Ensure work meets regulatory rules, customer requirements, and business quality assurance standards
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering Discipline (Nuclear, Mechanical, Chemical, or similar) from an accredited college or university
- 3+ years experience performing Thermal Hydraulic analysis
- Ability to obtain authorization for access to U.S. export-controlled information, if applicable
- Legally authorized to work in the United States
- Successful completion of a drug screen, as applicable
- Desired: Experience in ECCS LOCA, Containment, HELB, Fire Safe Shutdown, Annulus Pressurization Loads, and Reactor Internals Pressure Difference analyses
- Desired: M.S. Degree in Nuclear Engineering with experience in T/H modeling applied to nuclear reactor systems
- Desired: Knowledge of reactor licensing requirements
- Desired: Experience with BWR/PWR T-H systems codes such as TRACG, RELAP, and TRACE
- Desired: Experience in Best Estimate methodology development, such as TRACG LOCA
- Desired: Experience with Best Estimate and CSAU applications
- Desired: Programming experience with C#, FORTRAN, or PYTHON
- Honest and straightforward with a high level of personal integrity
- Ability to work and communicate effectively within a team environment
- Detail oriented and accountable for completion of work and assignments
