About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Lead projects involving technical evaluations and analyses for Anticipated Operational Occurrences, Anticipated Transients without Scram, Reactor Heat Balance, and Thermal Hydraulic Fuel Channel Analyses
- Perform plant thermal-hydraulic evaluations and analyses for Containment, HELB, Fire Safe Shutdown, Annulus Pressurization Loads, and RIPD
- Perform plant thermal-hydraulic evaluations and analyses for BWR stability
- Deliver products in accordance with customer requirements, business procedures, and regulatory agency guidelines
- Create or improve automation and methods
- Prepare technical reports, correspondence, documentation, and calculations
- Perform technical verification of engineering deliverables
- Prepare, communicate, and present complex technical issues to internal and external customers and recommend solutions
- Collaborate with mechanical design, core design, licensing, systems design, and other affiliated teams to develop customer solutions
- Ensure work complies with regulatory requirements, customer requirements, and business quality assurance standards
- Contribute to BWRX-300 deterministic safety analyses, including transient, thermal-hydraulic, containment, and stability analyses
- Participate in customer-facing training, deliverables, and collaboration
Requirements
What you’ll need- B.S. degree in an engineering discipline (Nuclear, Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, or similar) and at least 4 years of relevant nuclear experience; OR M.S. degree in an engineering discipline and at least 2 years of relevant nuclear experience; OR PhD in an engineering discipline
- Experience with BWR core simulation and thermal-hydraulic systems codes
- Experience with BWR Containment, HELB, Fire Safe Shutdown, Annulus Pressurization Loads, and RIPD analyses
- Knowledge of BWR systems and integrated plant response
- Knowledge of nuclear engineering principles including nuclear physics, thermal hydraulics, and mechanical design as applied to BWR
- Experience in two-phase thermal-hydraulic analysis techniques
- Experience with standard engineering work planning and design process techniques
- Knowledge of reactor licensing requirements
- Experience with BWR/PWR thermal-hydraulic systems codes such as TRACG, RELAP, and TRACE
- Experience in Best Estimate methodology development, such as TRACG
- Experience with containment codes such as GOTHIC
- Experience with Best Estimate and CSAU applications
- Programming experience such as C#, FORTRAN, or Python
- Ability to obtain authorization for access to U.S. export-controlled information, if applicable
- Legally authorized to work in the United States
- Successful completion of a drug screen, as applicable
