About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Execute design and engineering activities for protection and control panels of EHV/HV substations while adhering to quality, cost and time requirements
  • Understand project technical requirements, customer standards and specifications, and propose solutions within project scope
  • Perform technical calculations for panel AC/DC load, CT/PT sizing and adequacy, and relay settings
  • Select protection relays and auxiliary materials according to project specifications and customer requirements
  • Prepare, review and submit complete project detail designs and follow up for customer approval
  • Liaise with multidisciplinary team members to specify and design projects according to required standards and specifications
  • Prepare and coordinate manufacturing documents for panel integration
  • Support factory panel integration and FAT, and resolve FAT comments or snags
  • Support man-day and material estimation during ITO stage and control during OTR stage
  • Ensure on-time delivery of quality designs and documents to stakeholders
  • Participate in multidisciplinary design reviews and project strategy development with the Project Manager
  • Manage design issues through resolution and analyze customer requirements, compliance, risks and exceptions
  • Raise change requests for requirements that do not conform to project specifications
  • Validate designs through customer acceptance and ensure engineering document consistency before final release
  • Drive cost optimization through standardization and innovative solutions from base design through energizing stage
  • Review and validate supplier technical offers and support Procurement during PO negotiations and post-order activities
  • Improve designs and solutions to meet customer requirements optimally
  • Demonstrate EHS compliance and implement the Zero Deviation Plan
  • Communicate directly with customers to ensure service quality and maintain customer relationships
  • Work with the application team to resolve product issues and provide customer solutions

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelors in electrical engineering or related discipline from a reputed university
  • 10 years minimum relevant experience in HV/EHV substation design and engineering
  • Knowledge of GE and Competitors Products
  • Knowledge of Substation Automation System
  • Knowledge of Digital Substation and Station and Process bus Communication, IEC61850/PRP/RSTP and other Serial Communication
  • Good oral/written communication skills in English
  • Ability and willingness to travel across the region without limitation
  • Ability to read, interpret tender/contract documents, schematics, procedures and policy guidelines
  • Ability to lead, guide and coach the team
  • Ability to present technical solutions to customer and identify possible workaround solution for an issue
  • Solution oriented, team player with strong communication skills
  • Knowledge of health, safety and environmental requirements for engineering activities
  • Ability to work under pressure and with tight schedule
