About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Perform on-site installation, commissioning, refurbishment, startup, maintenance, troubleshooting, and upgrading of synchronous and induction machines and excitation & AVR systems
  • Respond to requests for emergency repairs and services
  • Provide technical instruction and assistance to customer representatives regarding installation, operation, calibration, repair, and maintenance at customer sites
  • Write technical reports, order materials, secure quotations, and prepare job status reports, customer reports, timesheets, and expense sheets
  • Provide leadership and technical direction to skilled labor performing work on customer sites
  • Maintain a strong safety mindset and ensure executed work reflects GE safety standards
  • Prepare timely and accurate technical reports for customer records and future outages
  • Manage maintenance facilities and field services engineering activities
  • Execute work under direct operations supervision and prescribed work instructions within a defined operations framework

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical/ Mechanical Engineering or related discipline from an accredited college or university
  • Minimum of 5 years of field maintenance experience with electrical motors and generators
  • Ability and willingness to travel approximately 80% of the time, as required
  • Ability and willingness to possess and maintain a valid driver’s license
  • Ability and willingness to work remotely, as required
  • Ability to work effectively with minimum supervision
  • Strong customer service mindset
  • Prior field services experience
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Prior project management experience
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
