About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Provide technical leadership and execute complex electro-mechanical testing, robotic-assisted inspections, generator diagnostics, and specialized generator monitoring services
  • Conduct or direct generator tests, including SLMS commissioning, maintenance, and troubleshooting
  • Execute RVM torsional vibration measurements, including probe installation, data acquisition, and diagnostic analysis
  • Deploy and operate robotic inspection systems for internal generator assessments
  • Integrate robotic data outputs with traditional EMT data for comprehensive diagnostic reporting
  • Work with Regional Commercial Managers, Service Managers, and Sales Managers to review workscopes and technical specifications and confirm customer and contract requirements can be met
  • Research inspection reports and historical data and interpret drawings to translate information into accurate inspection requirements
  • Provide engineering support teams with technical data and knowledge of I&LES service offerings
  • Work with Product Services to develop enhancements, evaluate robotic technologies, and streamline commercial procedures
  • Coordinate proposal development to meet customer-required schedules and issue quality proposals
  • Manage costing and proposal development within Workflows, Excel, Access, and Salesforce
  • Maintain field data, robotic diagnostic logs, and project documentation
  • Provide onsite leadership, mentoring, and training for less experienced personnel
  • Create technical work instructions and procedures for traditional EMT and robotic-assisted testing
  • Lead quality reviews across multiple inspection technologies
  • Communicate with internal engineering teams, site representatives, and external customers during planning, execution, and post-job meetings
  • Install, calibrate, maintain, and interpret data from advanced instrumentation to assess turbine-generator operational health
  • Ensure field operations meet safety, quality, and schedule commitments

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college; OR an associate's degree in Electronics, Electrical, Mechanical, or Non-Destructive Technology (or equivalent) with at least 5 years of relevant field experience
  • Expertise in generator design principles, generator operation, and electro-mechanical testing
  • Advanced knowledge in installation and maintenance of generator monitoring systems, including SLMS, partial discharge, shorted turn, vibration sensors, accelerometers, proximity probes, and flow sensors
  • Proficiency in torsional vibration measurement techniques, including rotary encoders, magnetic pickups, and optical sensors
  • Experience deploying remote inspection tools, automated crawlers, or robotic diagnostic platforms
  • Strong analytical skills regarding rotational velocity and sensor-driven data
  • Ability to work in short time cycles and high-pressure environments
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to organize and train team members
  • Willingness to travel globally on short notice and for extended periods; 70% travel during outage seasons
  • Willingness and ability to work flexible hours as required by project schedules
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, Modal Analysis Software, and applicable data acquisition or robotic interface systems
  • Ability to handle multiple projects concurrently and be results-oriented
  • Commitment to teamwork, team success, and strong customer focus
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States
