About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Capture system-level requirements and test specifications
- Develop, implement, and debug HVDC converter control algorithms in MATLAB/Simulink
- Design and implement test harnesses with automatic assessment for unit-level and Model-in-the-Loop validation
- Integrate functional blocks in converter control units based on control requirements and interface specifications
- Participate in MATLAB Embedded Coder code-generation workflows
- Perform model-in-the-loop and software-in-the-loop validation according to project plans
- Collaborate with system engineers, functional designers, and testers in agile Scrum sprints
- Track and document tasks in JIRA
- Contribute to peer reviews, unit testing, and integration sessions
- Manage version control and branching activities through GitHub Enterprise
Requirements
What you’ll need- Master’s degree (or equivalent) in Electrical, Control, or Software Engineering
- Minimum 5 years of experience in model-based design for control systems using MATLAB/Simulink
- Proven experience with HVDC systems or power electronics control, ideally with LCC (CSC) technology
- Familiarity with HVDC control concepts, including firing angle control, power control, reactive power control, and protection methods
- Experience in code generation using Embedded Coder or TargetLink and integration of generated code into real-time control platforms
- Knowledge of IEC61850
- Proficiency in Git/GitHub and collaborative workflows, including branching, pull requests, and merge handling
- Experience working in agile teams using JIRA or similar tools
- Strong analytical and debugging skills and attention to detail in model implementation
- Ability to work effectively within medium to large-sized teams
- Good written and verbal communication skills in English
- Optional: Previous participation in HVDC or FACTS control/protection development projects
- Optional: Familiarity with real-time simulation platforms such as RTDS and OPAL-RT
- Optional: Experience with continuous integration pipelines such as MATLAB GitHub Actions and Jenkins
