About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Lead Application and Project Engineering projects from competitive proposals through project execution
- Provide technical guidance to manufacturing, sourcing, project management, and external customers
- Execute OTR project engineering with Houston and Hungary teams to develop technical solutions and customizations
- Create and review Bills of Material from product Features and Options and provide approvals
- Develop customer drawing packages incorporating requested customizations
- Review build books and build plans and prepare ECO markups to update BOMs
- Prepare supplier technical specifications and review supplier drawings for compliance with project CTQs
- Provide product clarification and answer customer questions
- Resolve site issues with installation and commissioning teams
- Prepare customer meeting presentations and participate in customer kick-off meetings
- Lead and deliver design toll gate reviews with chief engineers
- Review design and risk mitigation needs and communicate modifications to manufacturing and sourcing teams
- Present technical design reviews and identify IP and position paper ideas and record IDLs
- Execute T&RS compliance items and ensure compliance with local codes and regulations
- Identify project savings and available-parts utilization opportunities
- Create new parts with the Part COE team as needed to complete project BOMs
- Attend project meetings and provide technical support for engineering release, HOM, CKOM, PSE handover, and customer meetings
- Resolve project issues with shop and testing teams during manufacturing and testing
- Train less experienced engineers
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's degree from an accredited university in Mechanical Engineering or related technical field
- Minimum of four (4) years of relevant experience related to bills of materials, manufacturing, mechanical engineering, and product design
- Minimum of two (2) years of Gas Turbine related work experience with strong understanding of gas turbines based packages including auxiliary systems and balance of plant equipment
- Minimum of four (4) years of focused customer service and fulfillment experience
- Master's degree in Engineering preferred
- Lean mindset and ability to apply Lean tools to improve business operations
- Expertise in Gas Turbine and Power augmentation, Gas Turbine Installation and Foundations, Fuel systems design, Hydraulic systems design, Lube oil systems, and TR&S compliance, codes and standards
- Minimum of eight (8) years of exposure to power generation equipment manufacturing or packaging preferred
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
- Ability to interface effectively with engineering organization, customers, and partners
- Problem-solving and systems-thinking ability
- Data-driven and decisive despite ambiguity
