About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Develop technology for power system control and management solutions for smart grid applications
  • Define functional and system design and architecture specifications
  • Model systems using Matlab, Simulink, and Opal-RT
  • Design, develop, and validate smart grid algorithms in function block and conventional software implementations
  • Design and establish test environments and simulation scenarios with the V&V team
  • Design GUI views for application interaction environments, V&V testing, and AAA deliveries
  • Develop ready-to-use application function blocks for embedded automation monitoring, analytics, forecasting, management, control, and protection systems
  • Test and validate solutions, including debugging
  • Act as project technical leader or Scrum Master as needed
  • Provide technical support and development leadership for key AAA roadmap initiatives
  • Propose, develop, and demonstrate novel techniques for competitive differentiation
  • Contribute to Grid Solutions Innovation Lab activities and strategic roadmap advancement
  • Support business development, project pipeline development, and delivery activities
  • Perform system design specifications and model verification
  • Support commissioning for COE and operations teams
  • Propose improvement programs for the team development roadmap
  • Work with customers to identify and solve power systems issues using software solutions
  • Use customer feedback and REX to prioritize future developments
  • Participate in technical visits, workshops, demonstrations, conferences, trade shows, and customer/stakeholder training
  • Report to the Protection and Control System Engineering Leader
  • Deliver AAA products on time, with required quality and within cost

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Degree in renewable energies, electrical engineering, computer science, or similar field from an accredited university
  • Genuine interest and passion for solving complex power system problems
  • Strong industrial experience developing and delivering, including FAT/SAT, power systems management, automation, protection and control applications
  • Experience with application specification, design, development, and testing in Linux and Windows environments using Agile processes
  • Proven R&D solutions experience in power systems, automation, protection, and control domains
  • Demonstrated ability to influence various stakeholders through the R&D process
  • Pragmatic approach to problem-solving
  • Strong analytical, questioning, and reasoning skills
  • Technical and higher management communication skills
  • Experience in multicultural distributed working environments
  • Team communication and knowledge-sharing ability
  • Programming languages, code-checking, version control, and Agile support tools including Jira, SVN, and Git
  • Proficiency in Matlab, Simulink, Matlab Embedded Coding, and automated testing
  • Experience with 61131 PLC development systems desired
  • Experience developing in Linux and MS Windows environments desired
  • Experience in software release management and SDLC
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States
