About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Lead technical development and implementation of Rotor or Tower Sub-System Level integration within the Mechanical Sub-System team
  • Serve as the first point of contact for technical definition, design integrity, validation, subsystem quality, and deliverable status
  • Provide technical guidance and team leadership/coordination on product definition and program execution from concept through operation
  • Contribute to continuous improvement in product development processes such as RCA, SAFER, and field issue resolution
  • Provide system expertise through requirements definition, design and development, validation, procurement, manufacturing, and product life-cycle support
  • Lead or oversee subsystem conceptual design studies and trade-offs addressing cost, performance, reliability, and operability
  • Define subsystem architecture and manage subsystem interfaces
  • Contribute to and approve system-level requirements, DMs, customer-facing technical documents, and flow requirements through the subsystem to components
  • Communicate recommendations through analysis, preparation, and presentation of technical material to internal and external audiences
  • Lead subsystem problem solving, verification, validation, and risk mitigation activities
  • Coordinate cross-functional internal and external teams to ensure subsystem development and BOM release
  • Drive continuous improvement through design strategies, multi-generation system and technology plans, lessons learned, and sick-parts management
  • Drive simplification and standardization in product structure, engineering analysis, validation, and program execution
  • Support field and factory quality issues and cases
  • Undertake complex assignments with long-term business implications affecting product technical success
  • Communicate subsystem technical milestone execution status aligned with the schedule

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university in Engineering
  • Minimum 3 years relevant experience working on Systems engineering projects, issues and/or technologies
  • System design mindset and experience in engineering new product development (NPI) lifecycle
  • Experience with component design ownership including design, validation, and fleet support
  • Effective problem identification and solving ability
  • Proven ability to work in a cross-functional and global environment
  • Strong oral and written communication skills in English
  • Strong interpersonal skills, leading and influencing skills and a positive energy
  • Knowledge of wind turbine component design criteria and wind turbine systems integration
  • Ability to break down complex issues, determine possible courses of action, and enable effective decision making
  • Conceptual design and system-level trade-off experience
  • Field issues, test and/or validation experience
  • Knowledge of GE Wind Turbine design practices and 3rd party certification requirements
  • Strong technical aptitude
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States
  • Successful completion of a drug screen, as applicable
