About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Execute projects involving new product introduction, new technology integration, and field issue resolution, with focus on quality and reliability verified by physical testing
- Design build-to-spec main bearings for wind turbines, including component specification, design, analysis, system interaction, and system reliability
- Own and drive lessons learned, best practices, and standardization in design practices, drawings, and technical specifications
- Design and develop testing and validation plans to prove component function and reliability
- Provide innovative design solutions meeting timing, product cost, and reliability targets
- Ensure quality of new and revised drawings, bills of materials, and specifications using GE and industry processes and standards
- Collaborate with quality teams, manufacturing engineers, sourcing, suppliers, field support, and others to improve product quality and first-time yield
- Support manufacturing, sourcing, and field teams with issue resolution and corrective actions for design-related causes
- Conduct technical root cause analysis of field failures and identify corrective actions to prevent recurrence
- Identify and execute cost-saving ideas and strategies
- Introduce advanced technology, materials, manufacturing methods, and design tools to advance wind-turbine subsystem components
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering
- Extensive mechanical analysis and design experience in industry
- Working knowledge of technical drawings, GD&T, and manufacturing
- Experience with 3D-CAD tools like Unigraphics / Siemens NX
- Working knowledge of Ansys or other finite element analysis tools
- Engineering experience in design/product development of mechanical components, preferably wind turbine mechanical components
- Experience with system design including interface definition, system stiffness, DFMEA, and design for manufacturability, installation, and serviceability
- Experience with bearing manufacturing processes
- Exposure to Product Lifecycle Management processes and tools
- Proven track record collaborating with business product managers and suppliers/vendors to optimize component costs and influence purchasing strategy
- Experience on power generation products
- Excellent communication, project management, interpersonal, and presentation skills
- Proven ability to lead global projects with team members across cultural boundaries
- Ability to work under pressure and challenging conditions
- Established problem-solving process knowledge and execution
- Strong desire and ability to drive improvement and change
- Fluent English written and spoken
- Legally authorized to work in the United States
- Successful completion of a drug screen, as applicable
