About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Conduct site visits to assess existing turbine and/or generator condition
- Supervise signature tests on units before disassembly at site
- Participate in daily calls with site teams to answer questions and anticipate problems
- Provide additional work recommendations after dismantling and inspection of existing components
- Review and approve site record sheets
- Resolve non-conformities and general issues
- Conduct site visits during critical project phases
- Support commissioning and testing phases
- Resolve issues during warranty periods
- Provide feedback from experience to the design team
- Serve as the main site contact for operation and maintenance contracts
- Design and prepare related documentation for service projects
- Support customers with condition assessment, spare parts, part refurbishment, and partial unit refurbishment
- Work within GE Vernova's Hydro division Fleet Reliability & Operation team on hydro turbine and generator rehabilitation and new projects
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering
- Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in the hydro business
- Willingness and ability to travel in North America and around the world
- Ability to work remotely in a team and communicate effectively
- Must comply with pre-employment screening, including reference verification and background check
- Must have unrestricted USA work authorization
- Knowledge of Hydro Turbine and Generator design and erecting methods
- Knowledge of calculation methods related to strength of materials, finite element simulation, metallurgy, and welding processes
- PE license preferred
