About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Work on Hydro Turbine and Generator rehabilitation and new projects covering service, warranty, and project completion
  • Provide engineering support for site activities
  • Conduct site visits to assess existing turbine and/or generator condition
  • Supervise signature tests before unit disassembly at site
  • Hold daily calls with site teams to answer questions and anticipate problems
  • Recommend additional work after dismantling and inspection of existing components
  • Review and approve site record sheets
  • Resolve non-conformities and general issues
  • Conduct site visits during critical project phases
  • Support commissioning and testing
  • Resolve issues during the warranty period
  • Provide experience feedback to the design team
  • Serve as the main site contact for operation and maintenance contracts
  • Design and prepare related documentation for service projects
  • Support customers with condition assessment, spare parts, part refurbishment, and partial unit refurbishment

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering
  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in the hydro business
  • Willingness and ability to travel in North America and around the world
  • Ability to work remotely in a team and communicate effectively
  • Must comply with pre-employment screening, including reference verification and background check
  • Must have unrestricted USA work authorization
  • Knowledge of Hydro Turbine and Generator design and erecting methods
  • Knowledge of calculation methods related to strength of materials, finite element simulation, metallurgy, and welding processes
  • PE license is preferred
