About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Develop and implement nondestructive inspection techniques, methods, and procedures
  • Set up and calibrate nondestructive testing equipment
  • Conduct NDT tests to ensure quality and detect defects
  • Establish examination techniques while adhering to safety regulations
  • Apply testing criteria according to specifications and standards and evaluate results
  • Interpret radiographs, CRT or digital readouts, conductivity meters, and visual indicators
  • Organize and report test results
  • Perform specialized inspections
  • Provide technical direction and leadership for inspection development, procurement, and deployment initiatives
  • Communicate with suppliers, component designers, management, and clients
  • Instruct and supervise others as needed
  • Interface daily with clients regarding work priorities and project progress
  • Participate in client programs, planning, strategy sessions, safety initiatives, and incident investigations
  • Work with clients to identify and remove obstacles
  • Perform volumetric weld examination using Phased Array Ultrasonics
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Diploma in Technical Discipline from High School/GED, Trade School, Vocational, or Military Program and 5 years of related experience using NDT Techniques in Power Generation, Industrial, or Manufacturing environment
  • Qualified to set up and calibrate equipment and interpret and evaluate results with respect to applicable codes, standards, and specifications
  • Thorough familiarity with the scope and limitations of the NDT method being used
  • NDT Level II Certification (Radiography)
  • UT, MT, and PT Certifications
  • Phased Array Level II Certification, with 3 years minimum
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively perform assigned NDT tasks and interpret inspection results
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Must be fluent in English
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States
  • Successful completion of a drug screen, as applicable
  • Willingness/ability to provide on-the-job training and guidance to Assistants and Level I Technicians
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related science from an accredited college or university preferred
  • IRRSP or State Card preferred
