About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Act as a member of the Software Center of Excellence, representing high-quality design and development practices
  • Implement new functionality in power systems application software, including DMS, DTS and modeling applications
  • Maintain power systems application functionality through code fixes, documentation and user interfaces
  • Collaborate with system/project engineers, frontend developers and DMS application developers to implement solutions aligned with product direction
  • Consult with technical leads to ensure project-related system design guidelines are followed
  • Write DMS Functional Software Designs
  • Provide input to technical leads on schedules and cost estimates
  • Interface with customers on general and specific issues within the area of functional expertise
  • Provide marketing support for proposals and demonstrations to potential customers

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Power Systems or a STEM major with at least 5 years of development or project delivery experience
  • OR Master’s Degree in Computer Science or a STEM major with at least 3 years of development or project delivery experience
  • Work and/or academic experience in the power systems area
  • Excellent programming skills in C++, Java or another related language
  • Knowledge of Perl, PowerShell and SQL, including MSSQL and/or T-SQL scripting languages
  • Good understanding of database operation
  • Good understanding of power systems and/or energy management systems
  • Knowledge of Distribution Network Applications, including Power Flow, Fault Location, Isolation and Service Restoration, Load and Volt Var Management, and Distribution Operator Training Simulator
  • Knowledge and experience with electric utility industry practices
  • Ability to identify integration issues and prevent schedule impacts
  • Strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to write professional and technical reports and procedures
  • Ability to make formal and informal presentations to technical and non-technical staff and customers
  • Ability to work independently and be self-motivated
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • Ability to travel and work at customer sites based on project demands
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States
  • Successful completion of a drug screen, as applicable
