About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Perform on-site commissioning services for new transformer installation, corrective maintenance, and unit upgrades
- Collaborate with clients and GE engineering to ensure erection, commissioning, and maintenance of power transformer systems
- Operate and support vacuum processing rigs and associated equipment
- Assist team leaders with assigned crew members and subcontracted services
- Attend daily morning tailboards to outline daily activities with crew members and/or customer resources
- Identify and report EHS/HSE concerns related to job scope
- Assist with or oversee field testing and commissioning of associated units
- Develop and improve standard procedures for transformer installation and maintenance services
- Provide technical assistance in preparing and submitting technical documents
- Develop inspection criteria with external and internal customers for transformer services
- Provide emergency call-out support for customers’ year-round 24x7 production requirements
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree in the Electrical / Mechanical field
- Minimum of 5 years of field experience with specific mechanical and/or electrical experience related to power transformers or other Electrical Balance of Plant (eBOP) equipment such as high voltage breakers, switchgear, and associated devices
- Ability and willingness to travel up to 80% of the time
- Mechanical experience via technical training institutes and/or military services with proven field experience encouraged to apply
- Experience using Doble and/or Omicron test equipment
- Process-oriented with detailed work procedures
- Effective communication skills
- IT/computer savvy and experience with multiple software applications
- Ability to understand electrical schematics and one-line diagrams
- NETA certification or other commissioning/training certifications
- Legally authorized to work in the United States
- Successful completion of a drug screen, as applicable
