About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Lead transmission system studies, including load flow, stability, short-circuit, and voltage analysis
- Evaluate grid code compliance and renewable energy project impacts on bulk power systems
- Perform power system transient studies and develop detailed equipment models
- Conduct small-signal stability analyses and recommend mitigation measures
- Execute harmonic and power quality studies for transmission, distribution, and interconnection projects
- Support business development through proposal writing and client engagement
- Translate complex technical results into clear, actionable value propositions for customers
- Represent GE Vernova at regional forums and industry conferences
- Contribute to technical papers and industry standard working groups
Requirements
What you’ll need- Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Electric Power Engineering
- Minimum of seven (7) years of industry experience performing short-circuit, transient, steady-state, and dynamic power system analysis
- Experience using ASPEN OneLiner, PSCAD/EMTDC, EMTP, PSS®E, TARA, PowerFactory, PSLF, and DSATools
- Seven (7) years of experience applying Python, MATLAB, and FORTRAN to engineering problems
- A Ph.D. in Electrical/Power Engineering with five (5) years of relevant industry experience may substitute for the above requirements
- Strong background in power system analysis
- Solid understanding of inverter-based resource (IBR) control system design and application
- Familiarity with RTO/ISO requirements, including PJM, CAISO, ERCOT, MISO, and SPP
- Ability to travel up to 20%
- Legally authorized to work in the United States
- Successful completion of a drug screen, as applicable
