About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Oversee the overall technical solution meeting customer requirements
  • Capture requirements and perform gap analysis
  • Define schematic diagram requirements for control and protection systems
  • Produce detailed design documentation, drawings, test specifications, and test reports
  • Prepare substation single-line diagrams, protection single-line diagrams, protection lists, and specifications
  • Clarify specifications and refine technical solutions with customers
  • Prepare principal diagrams covering interlockings, protection actions, polarities, and HVDC-specific functions
  • Monitor manufacture of control and protection cabinets and supervise factory tests
  • Follow standard design practices, engineering reviews, and guidelines
  • Prepare technical specifications for cabling and fibre optics, cable lists, and cable schedules
  • Interface with equipment suppliers and review in-house and contractor designs
  • Analyze engineering data, documents, and reports
  • Ensure designs are completed by competent personnel and subcontractors
  • Investigate technical problems and establish corrective procedures
  • Prepare bills of material for LV equipment
  • Reply to customer comments on technical submittals with project management
  • Attend technical meetings with customers, contractors, and consultants
  • Prepare load-list, power-consumption, and heat-dissipation calculations
  • Define control-panel requirements and produce design documentation using standard design blocks
  • Create panel electrical schematics using Engineering Base
  • Prepare wire/cable schedules, routine-test specifications, general-assembly drawings, and bills of materials
  • Oversee control-system testing and FAT witnessing
  • Assist installation and commissioning site activities
  • Share engineering information and promote open dialogue
  • Ensure proper documentation of technical data for assigned projects and tasks
  • Report to the Control System Engineering Manager as part of the HVDC and AC control and protection engineering team

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Engineering degree in electrical or electronic engineering
  • 7 years minimum experience in an EPC project environment in the T&D, Power Gen, or Oil & Gas industries
  • At least 2 projects as an engineer responsible for the business
  • Good experience in project management and budget management processes, quality, planning, R&O
  • Motivated to evolve in an international environment and aligned with company values
  • Good leadership, listening and communication skills
  • Experience in functional team management
  • Good experience in managing technical interfaces and systems integration
  • Solid knowledge of conventional substation control system design
  • Solid experience in the design of control and protection cabinets, preferably in high voltage substation or power plant environments
  • Good knowledge of the control and protection functions of high voltage AC substations
  • Good knowledge of ancillary services engineering in a substation environment
  • Understanding of design/commissioning of secondary systems
  • Knowledge of networking and telecommunications
  • Experience with AutoCAD, Engineering Base or Microsoft Visio
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve problems
  • Ability to document, plan, market, and execute programs
  • Established project management skills
