About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Lead product development projects from business requirement definition and technical trade-offs through prototype installation and serial production
- Own the design, development, testing, and certification lifecycle of assigned electrical subsystems
- Drive should-cost assessments and cost optimization efforts with suppliers
- Communicate design details and technical recommendations to senior leadership
- Incorporate lessons learned into designs
- Provide innovative design solutions focused on safety and quality
- Prioritize and delegate work to global design engineers and subcontractors
- Manage daily team operations, priorities, schedules, and resource assignments
- Collaborate with customers, fleet support teams, and systems engineering on fleet issues and improvements
- Review critical drawings, schematics, technical specifications, and design review documents before release or evaluation
- Ensure subsystem deliverables meet quality, schedule, cost, DFMEA, performance, availability, weight, and business targets
- Coordinate cross-functional subsystem development with mechanics, systems, product line, and sourcing teams
- Interface with test laboratories to drive subsystem validation strategies
- Provide technical guidance on design practices, standards, methods, and tools
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s Degree in an Electrical Engineering or related discipline
- Strong technology and/or product management experience in low voltage and/or power path component design or in similar position
- Fluent in English (spoken and written)
- Wind industry expertise with proven results developing & implementing technology programs
- Experience in conducting system validation, test bench testing, and field measurements
- Knowledge of Standards and Design Codes
- Skilled in electrical component design calculations, specifications and schematics
- Demonstrated system thinking: ability to assess tradeoffs, effectively assess risk, and optimize results
- Business acumen and customer focus
- Demonstrated ability to work horizontally across stakeholders to influence outcomes
- Strong interpersonal skills including: ownership, self-motivated, problem solving, analytical, team player, communication skills and ability to develop relationships
