About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Lead technical innovation and influence product direction for energy storage systems
  • Lead development and validation of energy storage systems, including auxiliary systems such as chillers and BMS
  • Mentor team members and provide technical oversight for development work
  • Drive performance and reliability enhancements into the product
  • Understand rules and regulations associated with regional electricity markets
  • Support problem identification and resolution of new and installed products
  • Interact closely with customers to drive requirements and customer satisfaction
  • Interface with senior leadership
  • Work across engineering and services organizations
  • Prepare product-level documentation for installation, commissioning, and operations for internal GE employees and customers
  • Develop and deliver controls solutions for new Energy Storage initiatives
  • Improve existing Solar & Storage Solutions across AC and DC systems, power conversion systems, plant-level controls, and customer and supervisory control system integrations

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s Degree in STEM field from an accredited college or university
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience developing software and controls
  • Minimum of 2 years dedicated to energy storage systems
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States
  • Expert-level knowledge of energy storage controls, validation and verification, formal design methodology, systems integration, advanced controls or related technologies
  • Expert application knowledge of GE’s MarkVIe product family and GE’s Cimplicity software (SCADA)
  • Knowledge of power conversion systems and controls
  • Knowledge of communication networks (copper, FO) and their design, software and hardware
  • Familiarity with OPC-UA, Modbus, and MQTT
  • Experience with Matlab, Simulink, and/or Python
  • Familiarity with Agile software development methodology
  • Technical project leadership experience
  • Experience working cross-functionally between Engineering, Sourcing, Manufacturing, Logistics, Product Management, and related functions
  • Strong ability to summarize and communicate complex technical concepts to diverse audiences
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Proven ability to deliver high-quality results on schedule
  • Self-start attitude
