About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Lead extended-scope controls engineering projects from kick-off through hardware design, software development, commissioning, and commercial plant operation
- Support requisition, design, structuring, validation, and commissioning of control systems for gas turbines, bottoming cycle systems (HRSG and ST), and balance of plant
- Compile project-level controls strategy and document requirements
- Lead design and implementation of controls system projects across GT, ST, HRSG, BOP, and electrical systems
- Make independent project-level decisions and own high-risk, complex projects from ITO to COD
- Support ITO and proposal efforts
- Work and lead in an Agile software methodology
- Support and influence product requirements definition
- Lead global control system requirements definition and management
- Drive architecture, top-level design, verification, validation, and commissioning requirements
- Define and manage system function, performance, interface, reliability, maintainability, and safety requirements
- Support and influence test plans, software acceptance tests, site pre-operation, startup, and commissioning
- Coordinate internal and external customer requirements and task flow-down
- Partner with Project Managers on baseline master schedules and cost roll-ups
- Lead customer discussions and reviews
- Promote consistent controls solutions
- Lead fulfillment teams with an inclusive and adaptable style
- Collaborate with GE groups and external customers
- Manage controls cost and schedule targets with functional managers
- Communicate clearly with the team and business leaders
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical or related Engineering field from an accredited college or university
- 9+ years of Engineering experience
- 5+ years work experience in the Power Generation industry
- Legally authorized to work in the United States
- Willingness to travel up to 15% for US candidates
- Experience in design and application of GE power generation controls, electrical, or accessory systems
- Experience in power generation requisition, working with customers, project management, or EPCs
- System integration experience
- Proven oral and written communication and presentation skills
- Gas Turbine, Steam Turbine and/or Plant controls knowledge/experience
- Experience with GE Mark Vie preferred
- Demonstrated ability to independently drive projects to completion
- Demonstrated technical writing expertise
- Demonstrated experience in technical leadership of a diverse team
- Successful completion of a drug screen, as applicable
