About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Guide and oversee delivery of the Offshore Converter Platform and Onshore Converter Station
- Ensure systems align with GE requirements, contractual obligations, consortium and customer expectations, legal compliance, and Safety by Design principles
- Evaluate safety-related documentation, including EERA, FERA, safety plans, escape route layouts, safety signage, and hazardous area classifications
- Review safety-critical systems such as fire detection and suppression systems and lifeboats
- Oversee RAMS-related activities and studies, including HAZID, HAZOP, BowTie analyses, and FMECA
- Develop and implement a Safety by Design programme integrated into the RAMS Project Management Plan
- Establish and maintain a project-specific legal register
- Support non-safety disciplines in implementing Safety by Design measures
- Engage engineers, developers, and TSOs to incorporate RAMS expectations
- Manage safety-relevant document reviews and technical decision logs
- Oversee manufacturing and testing of safety-related vendor packages
- Standardise safety engineering tools, methodologies, and best practices
- Participate in fire, explosion, fire protection, escape, evacuation, and rescue analyses
- Monitor installation, mechanical completion, and onshore/offshore commissioning activities
- Liaise with certifying authorities to obtain approvals for safety-critical packages
- Review and support Management of Change processes
- Apply systems engineering principles across Converter Station and Landstation systems
- Ensure compliance with 2GW standard design requirements and technical specifications
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related field, with a strong emphasis on numerical analysis
- Postgraduate degree preferred
- Minimum of 7 years of relevant experience in engineering and construction, particularly focused on offshore platform fabrication
- At least 7 years of experience in platform fabrication design and construction within the renewables or offshore energy sector
- Extensive on-site experience advantageous
- Proven track record leading complex RAM and Safety-by-Design programmes, preferably within the HVDC offshore renewables sector
- NEBOSH Diploma equivalent education mandatory, alternatively German SiFa
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills
- Strong leadership capabilities
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining high standards of quality and safety
