About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Maintain optimal function and output at wind sites through daily turbine operations, planning, maintenance, safety, quality control, warranty repairs, and customer service
  • Execute contractual obligations and customer requirements with the Hub Manager
  • Maintain, repair, or replace parts to correct malfunctions
  • Troubleshoot complex mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical problems on variable-pitch and variable-speed turbines
  • Support site operations, daily scheduling and planning, technician development, site leadership, and customer service
  • Perform diagnostic electrical analysis
  • Document all work using computer-based service reporting procedures
  • Work with GE's remote operations center when necessary
  • Travel locally among all wind sites within the MDC Hub and report to assigned sites

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Ability to pass Technical Knowledge Assessment
  • Minimum of 4 years of wind troubleshooting experience and at least 1 year in an EHS, SQC, or Lead role; or minimum of 6 years of wind troubleshooting experience; or minimum of 3 years of wind troubleshooting experience and a Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field
  • Basic computer skills
  • Valid driver's license, maintained throughout employment
  • Willingness to travel up to 100% of the time
  • Ability and willingness to lift repetitive weight of up to 45 lbs. unassisted
  • Ability and willingness to climb towers of 300+ feet regularly
  • Must meet and maintain manufacturer weight limits not exceeding 300 lbs. including required gear
  • Ability and willingness to work in industrial, manufacturing, and power industry facilities
  • Ability to prioritize work according to contract obligations
  • Ability and willingness to take initiative and work without direct supervision
  • Flexibility to work rotating shifts and on-call schedules
  • Ability to work occasional overnights as required
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States
  • Successful completion of a drug screen, as applicable
  • Desired: Associate's or Bachelor's Degree in a Technical, Electrical, or Electronics field
  • Desired: Technical Certification in Wind Energy or Electrical/Electronic field
  • Wind turbine experience
  • Electrical, mechanical, and/or hydraulic experience
  • Experience using hydraulic power tools
  • Experience with heavy equipment for facility maintenance and knowledge of crane and rigging requirements
