About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Maintain optimal function and output at wind sites
- Perform daily turbine operations, safety, quality control, and warranty repairs
- Execute contractual obligations and customer requirements with site and hub leadership
- Work on electrical and mechanical equipment used in GE wind turbine generators
- Perform maintenance, repair, and replacement of parts to correct malfunctions
- Troubleshoot complex mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical problems on variable-pitch and variable-speed turbines
- Support all areas of site operations as directed by the manager with minimal supervision
- Perform diagnostic electrical analysis
- Document work using computer-based service reporting procedures
- Work with and respond to GE’s remote operations center when necessary
- Work at all wind sites within Texas Hub 3 and report to assigned hub sites
Requirements
What you’ll need- High School Diploma or GED
- 1+ year(s) experience as a Wind Technician/Wind Mechanic, or completed Wind Certificate Program/Associate’s Degree in Energy, or 2 years of electrical work experience
- Passing a Technical Knowledge Assessment
- Basic computer skills
- Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license
- Ability to handle repetitive weight of 50 lbs.
- Ability to climb towers up to 300 feet daily
- Must meet specified manufacturer weight limits not exceeding 300 lbs. including required gear
- Ability and willingness to work in industrial, manufacturing, and power industry facilities
- Ability to prioritize work according to contract obligations
- Ability and willingness to take initiative and work without direct supervision
- Flexibility to work rotating shift schedules and on-call per site needs
- Occasional overnights may be required
- Desired: Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in a Technical, Electrical, or Electronics field
- Desired: Technical Certification in Wind Energy or Electrical/Electronic field
- Wind turbine experience
- Electrical, mechanical, and/or hydraulic experience
- Experience using hydraulic power tools
- Experience with heavy equipment for facility maintenance and working knowledge of crane and rigging requirements
- Legally authorized to work in the United States
- Successful completion of a drug screen, as applicable
