About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Execute contractual obligations and customer requirements with site and hub leadership
  • Perform electrical and mechanical work on GE wind turbine generator equipment
  • Maintain, repair, or replace parts to correct malfunctions
  • Troubleshoot complex mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical problems on variable-pitch and variable-speed turbines
  • Support all areas of site operations as directed by the manager with minimal supervision
  • Observe all safety requirements
  • Perform diagnostic electrical analysis
  • Document work using computer-based service reporting procedures
  • Work with and respond to GE’s remote operations center when necessary
  • Travel locally within the hub and work at assigned wind sites in the MDC Hub, including Geyser and Reed Point, Montana

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • High School Diploma or equivalency
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience as a Wind Technician/Wind Mechanic, or completed Wind Certificate Program, or 2 years of electrical work experience
  • Passing a Technical Knowledge Assessment
  • Basic computer skills
  • Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license
  • Ability to handle repetitive weight of 50 lbs. and climb towers up to 300 feet daily
  • Must meet specified manufacturer weight limits not exceeding 300 lbs. including required gear
  • Ability and willingness to work in industrial, manufacturing, and power industry facilities
  • Ability to prioritize work according to contract obligations
  • Ability and willingness to take initiative and work without direct supervision
  • Flexibility to work rotating shift schedules and on-call according to site needs
  • Occasional overnights may be required
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States
  • Successful completion of a drug screen, as applicable
