About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Travel locally within the Nebraska Hub 1 wind sites
- Execute contractual obligations according to customer requirements and daily activities
- Maintain, repair, or replace parts on electrical and mechanical equipment used in GE wind turbine generators
- Troubleshoot complex mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical problems on variable pitch and variable speed turbines
- Support all areas of site operations as directed by the manager with minimal supervision
- Observe all safety requirements
- Perform diagnostic electrical analysis
- Document work performed using computer-based service reporting procedures
- Work with and respond to GE’s remote operations center when necessary
- Communicate with the Site Lead and Manager to execute contract requirements and timelines
- Report to any wind site within Nebraska Hub 1 as assigned by the manager
Requirements
What you’ll need- High School Diploma or GED
- Minimum of 1 year(s) experience as a Wind Technician/Wind Mechanic, or completed Wind Certificate Program/Associates Degree in Energy, or minimum of 2 years of electrical work experience
- Passing a Technical Knowledge Assessment
- Basic computer skills
- Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license
- Ability to handle repetitive weight of 50 lbs. and climb towers up to 300 feet daily
- Meet specified manufacturer weight limits not to exceed 300 lbs. including required gear
- Ability and willingness to work in industrial, manufacturing, and power industry facilities
- Ability to prioritize work according to contract obligations
- Ability and willingness to take initiative and work without direct supervision
- Flexibility to work rotating shift schedules and on-call per site needs
- Occasional overnights may be required
- Legally authorized to work in the United States
- Successful completion of a drug screen, as applicable
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in a Technical, Electrical, or Electronics field from an accredited college or university
- Technical Certification in Wind Energy or Electrical/Electronic field
- Wind turbine experience
- Electrical, mechanical, and/or hydraulic experience
- Experience using hydraulic power tools
- Experience with heavy equipment for facility maintenance and working knowledge of crane and rigging requirements
