About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Travel locally within the Nebraska Hub 1 wind-site hub
  • Execute contractual obligations and daily activities according to customer requirements
  • Maintain, repair, or replace parts of electrical and mechanical equipment in GE wind turbine generators
  • Troubleshoot complex mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical problems on variable-pitch and variable-speed turbines
  • Support all areas of site operations as directed by the manager
  • Observe all safety requirements
  • Perform diagnostic electrical analysis
  • Document work using computer-based service reporting procedures
  • Work with GE’s remote operations center when necessary
  • Coordinate and communicate with the Site Lead and Manager on contract requirements and timelines

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Minimum of 1 year(s) experience as a Wind Technician/Wind Mechanic, or completed Wind Certificate Program/Associates Degree in Energy, or minimum of 2 years of electrical work experience
  • Passing a Technical Knowledge Assessment
  • Basic computer skills
  • Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license
  • Ability to handle repetitive weight of 50 lbs. and climb towers up to 300 feet daily
  • Must meet specified manufacturer weight limits not to exceed 300 lbs. including required gear
  • Ability and willingness to work in industrial, manufacturing, and power industry facilities
  • Ability to prioritize work according to contract obligations
  • Ability and willingness to take initiative and work without direct supervision
  • Flexibility to work rotating shift schedules and be on-call per site needs
  • Occasional overnights may be required per hub needs
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States
  • Successful completion of a drug screen, as applicable
