About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Own the investigation and resolution of complex infrastructure incidents and escalations
  • Administer and troubleshoot Windows Server, Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS and DHCP
  • Support Microsoft 365 and Entra ID environments, including identity, authentication, MFA and Conditional Access
  • Troubleshoot and support virtualization environments using VMware and/or Hyper-V
  • Diagnose networking issues involving firewalls, VPNs, VLANs, routing, switching and connectivity
  • Support backup, disaster recovery and business continuity systems
  • Plan and execute infrastructure migrations, upgrades and modernization projects
  • Perform root-cause analysis and implement or recommend changes that prevent recurring problems
  • Use PowerShell, scripting, automation and other tools to improve reliability and efficiency
  • Create and maintain clear technical documentation
  • Work directly with clients, vendors and other GEM engineers during projects and technical incidents
  • Provide occasional onsite support at client locations in the New York City metropolitan area
  • Work across multiple client environments with different technologies, configurations and business requirements

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Substantial hands-on experience supporting production IT infrastructure
  • Strong experience with Windows Server and Active Directory
  • Strong experience with Group Policy, DNS and DHCP
  • Strong experience with Microsoft 365 and Entra ID
  • Experience with identity, MFA and Conditional Access
  • Experience with VMware vSphere/ESXi and/or Microsoft Hyper-V
  • Experience with server and storage infrastructure
  • Experience with backup and disaster recovery
  • Experience with firewalls, VPNs, VLANs, routing and switching
  • Experience with network and infrastructure troubleshooting
  • Experience with system hardening, EDR, MFA and related security technologies
  • Strong client communication skills and ability to explain complex technical issues to technical and nontechnical audiences
  • Broad technical capability, demonstrated troubleshooting depth, and ability to work independently across multiple systems
  • Willingness and ability to provide occasional onsite support at client locations in the New York City metropolitan area
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States
  • Experience with Microsoft Exchange Server and hybrid Exchange environments
  • Experience with Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops (CVAD)
  • Experience with Citrix NetScaler / ADC
  • Advanced VMware infrastructure experience
  • Advanced networking and firewall troubleshooting experience
  • Experience with Veeam or similar backup and disaster recovery platforms
  • PowerShell scripting and automation experience
  • Infrastructure migrations and major upgrades experience
