About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Organize and oversee peer support networks for assigned commands
  • Recruit, vet and ensure training of active duty and family member peer support counselors according to USSOCOM CRC standards
  • Collect and report data for formative and outcome evaluations of peer support and community-based support programs
  • Collect original and secondary-source data for program assessments
  • Support commands at multiple levels and locations
  • Identify and document program/service needs and evaluation data
  • Develop needs-based programming for demographic groups and geographic locations
  • Coordinate and develop CRC processes, functions and networking opportunities
  • Establish, maintain and report activity of peer counseling networks
  • Conduct Family Orientation, Information, Outreach and Referrals
  • Conduct pre- and post-deployment preparation, reintegration and decompression activities
  • Conduct family relational enhancement and single service member enhancement activities
  • Support unit-level career transition programs
  • Support Social & Family and Psychological Program implementation, including suicide prevention and cognitive agility training
  • Communicate behavioral health and resiliency resources
  • Assist with CRC standard operating procedures and service provision protocols
  • Serve as Commander’s liaison for community and family support matters
  • Communicate on behalf of the Command through approved media and social media
  • Maintain awareness of emergency response protocols
  • Document services in HP Enterprise-wide platforms such as HPDMS as directed by USSOCOM Directive 10-12

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree in education, human/social services or related field or four (4) years’ experience, to include experience as a volunteer, in providing social service education, or work/family life consultation or coordination services
  • Have, or be willing to receive, specialized training on peer support counseling, community resources and referrals and suicide prevention
  • Knowledge of best practices and developments in peer support counseling and suicide prevention
  • Keep abreast of DoW, Services and community sponsored resources intended to promote the wellbeing of service members and their families
  • Secret or Top-Secret Clearance, or the ability to obtain clearance
  • Top Secret clearance currently possessed; Top Secret/SCI clearance able to be obtained
  • US Citizenship Required: Yes
  • 4+ years of related experience
  • Skills in Behavioral Health, Counseling, Family Support, Peer Support and Social Services
  • Travel required less than 10%
