About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Lead the build, configuration, and sustainment of a Software Factory capability for the US Space Force
- Determine guidelines and standards for deploying to Azure Cloud infrastructure and Kubernetes environments
- Stand up and operate multiple Kubernetes cluster environments in Azure cloud, including lab and classified production environments
- Deploy and configure Jira, Confluence, GitLab, and other DevSecOps tools on virtual machines and Kubernetes clusters
- Direct resources and assist with automation for virtual machine infrastructure-as-code pipelines using Packer, Ansible, and shell scripts
- Provide DevSecOps support to application teams and customers through automation, architectures, and wikis
- Serve as a DevSecOps architect, engineer, and coach for the DevSecOps team
- Facilitate platform development and help development teams mature their delivery practices
- Monitor, patch, upgrade, and remediate vulnerabilities in Kubernetes nodes and platform applications
- Maintain and enhance software and infrastructure-as-code build, test, and deployment CI/CD pipelines
- Deploy and manage FOSS and vendor Kubernetes distributions using Linux-based VMs in Azure
- Deploy and manage Jira, Confluence, and GitLab on Azure-hosted virtual machines
- Use Helm to deploy, manage, and integrate Harbor, SonarQube, Keycloak, Nexus, ArgoCD, and other software into Kubernetes clusters
- Onboard user teams onto the Software Factory platform and assist with application and infrastructure integration via automated pipelines
- Define system and application security requirements for Azure and Kubernetes deployments
- Educate teams on DevSecOps practices and tooling
- Recommend innovations that enhance DevSecOps capabilities and competitive advantage
Requirements
What you’ll need- US Citizenship required
- DoD Secret Security Clearance with ability to obtain Top Secret
- BA/BS Degree (or equivalent experience)
- 10+ years of DevOps/Cloud experience
- Experience managing and using Linux and Linux-based operating systems
- Experience with software architecture, engineering, CI/CD, and/or DevOps practices
- Familiarity with at least one programming or scripting language
- Experience with Git version control
- Experience with containerization build technologies and Kubernetes deployments
- Experience with Kubernetes Persistent Volumes / Volume Claims and Container Storage Interface plugins in cloud environments
- Experience providing technical leadership for DevOps or cloud teams
- Outstanding verbal and written communication skills
- Proficiency with Agile lifecycle management processes and tools
- DoDM 8140 Certification / Security+
- Experience with Kubernetes, Helm, and GitOps techniques preferred
- Experience with GitLab and GitLab CI/CD pipelines preferred
- Experience with US Air Force Platform One’s Big Bang a plus
- Experience with security scanning tools such as Anchore, OpenSCAP, and Prisma (Twistlock)
- Knowledge of secure development and software supply chain security practices
- Ability to handle a dynamic work environment
- Detail-oriented, critical thinker with excellent problem-solving skills
- Willingness to travel up to 25%
