About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Support behavioral health care delivery through supervised clinical and administrative services
  • Conduct intakes and assist with psychiatric, drug and alcohol client care and treatment
  • Counsel clients with personal, behavioral, or psychological problems under provider supervision
  • Observe clients, identify behavior patterns, and report observations to licensed behavioral health staff
  • Lead prescribed individual or group therapy sessions under licensed mental health professional guidance
  • Conduct intake interviews
  • Administer psychological and psychophysiological tests under supervision
  • Compile testing data and prepare reports
  • Maintain attendance rosters and statistical data for behavioral health services
  • Assist with program operating instructions and recommend corrective actions
  • Gather and present data for process improvement, statistical tracking, hospitalizations, and discharges
  • Manipulate and present data using off-the-shelf software
  • Respond to appointment inquiries by telephone and in person
  • Coordinate Case Review Committee attendance and agendas with military and civilian agencies
  • Prepare open and closed case reports for client medical records
  • Maintain a resource library for professional staff and customers
  • Provide families with information on healthy family life and parenting skills

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Minimum of three (3) years’ experience as a psychiatric technician
  • Associate degree or commensurate level of training, e.g. military mental health technician, for a psychiatric technician or mental health program assistant
  • Education requirement may be met by military or comparable training
  • If military trained, specialty must be as a mental health technician / specialist
  • Training shall include a foundation in psychology and/or social work
  • Training in conflict management and de-escalation of crisis situations and agitated, violent, potentially violent, and/or suicidal individuals
  • Trained to intervene and, when required, restrain violent, potentially violent, or suicidal clients by verbal or physical means
  • Secret or Top-Secret Clearance, or the ability to obtain clearance
  • Top Secret clearance currently possessed; Top Secret/SCI clearance must be obtainable
  • US Citizenship required
  • Ability to work onsite
  • Less than 10% travel required
