About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Coordinate clinical and operational medical support with the Government Medical Director and/or Flight Commander
- Integrate human performance optimization with medical care across SWTW training courses
- Provide direct patient care
- Supervise contract medical staff
- Ensure medical operations align with Air Force flight medicine and military treatment facility standards of care
- Provide medical supervision and oversight to paramedics
- Document patient encounters in MHS GENESIS
- Conduct peer reviews as assigned
- Precept and cosign documentation from non-privileged providers
- Evaluate patients and issue medical clearances under Air Force flight medicine standards
- Conduct human performance activities at SWTW training sites
- Evaluate, diagnose, and treat patients in clinic, at training pools, and in the field
- Provide medical coverage for training events
- Participate in multidisciplinary medical meetings
- Provide assessments and recommendations regarding student progression
- Report activities and utilization data to Government oversight, including HPUT or similar databases
- Validate patient care data for accuracy and compliance with medical standards and research protocols
Requirements
What you’ll need- Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program
- Current NCCPA certification; must maintain board certification throughout employment
- Valid, unrestricted license to practice as a Physician Assistant in any U.S. state
- Meet host military treatment facility credentialing and privileging requirements
- Qualifications to practice in family medicine, flight medicine, occupational medicine, emergency medicine, or urgent care
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Minimum of three (3) years of clinical experience in family medicine, flight medicine, occupational medicine, urgent care, or emergency medicine
- U.S. citizenship required
- Ability to work a non-standard schedule, including extended hours, rotating shifts, weekends, and holidays
- Ability to work onsite
- Ability to support 40 scheduled weekly hours
- Ability to travel 10–25%
